?My Beautiful Souls,

?Wishing sweet blessings to all my Starlights on this bright and sunny day!☀️ Rise to greet the world with an attitude of grace, a mindset of glow, and a perspective of whimsical opportunities, whereby anything is possible if you believe it…?

?Life is filled with invisible silver linings that are felt with the heart only. In our pursuit of happiness, we look for signs instead of trusting our instincts, our intuition, and try to rationalize what truly can only be achieved through emotional intelligence. Those who make a checklist of plans for their life will be sadly disappointed when God’s memo for them is intercepted by free will. Consequently, we have been led astray by our own ego, whereby we justify our desires, greed, power, and control.?

?Addiction is a viscous cycle or mind game played on us when we least expect it. It’s like depression, as we’ve been breathing it in long before we know we’ve become trapped in its web of darkness. Addiction takes over the way we behave and changes our relationship with the world and the people in it. And, because of it, our mind craves certain things, whether food, work, money, power, control, sex, love, drugs, and/or alcohol to make us numb or escape the path we have chosen for ourselves. What’s sad is we don’t know how we got here in the first place.

?By the time we realize we have an addiction, we’ve become shamed, embarrassed, guilt ridden, and fearful of someone finding out about our demons. We then start lying to protect our bad behaviors, and our lies become our truths we start believing are our realities. We think no one will ever know the real “truth” behind this ‘fake’ life we now lead. There is always another side to the coin.

?But, eventually the burden of this magnitude begins to hinder our personal and professional lives, which starts to crack slowly. We forget what we lied about, forgot who we lied to and what we said, we forget to lie to the right person, and eventually get caught in our lies by the tiniest inadvertent mistake. It happens. We don’t see it coming. We’re busted. And, it’s the best thing that ever happened to us!? There are no mistakes in life…only ours.

?The funny thing is, we all make mistakes and addiction is just one of many. No one can prioritize which mistake is worse because we are not called to judge those on earth. We are called to serve, empower, uplift, heal, treat, assist, love, and gift our hearts to those whom have taken a path of darkness and need our support.

??The other known fact is that many who choose a path of addiction are those whom have suffered from trauma or abuse. The pain and suffering these individuals must live with is layered over years and years of agony that have not been addressed or resolved with therapy or treatment. Consequently, they need gentle support, compassion, and empathy in guiding them to a treatment center or psychologist/psychiatrist who can assist in their healing and recovery. PTSD will be among the scores of challenges they face among other illnesses that are serious and detrimental to their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health.

?So dear souls, as you rise to greet the day, realize how blessed you are, where you are, as you are…? Find gratitude everywhere as far as the eye can see.? Being grateful puts our minds in a positive mindset. It lets our hearts enter into an energized and harmonic rhythm and allows spontaneous endorphins, such as serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin to enter into the bloodstream for inner glow and spiritual peace. ☮️

?May your day be filled with a desire to find your bliss and a grateful heart. Volunteer in whatever way you can at your local addiction treatment center and help people in need. Your time and loving support will be forever a gift never to be forgotten sweet Peeps.? Make it a day of shared shine. Sending Summer kisses!?xoxo

In Love and Light,

Kimberly Lees, Ed.D.
